Chateau
Mouton Rothschild
A classified First Growth, Chateau Mouton Rothschild spread over 90 hectares of vines in Pauillac, in the Médoc region, 50 km north-west of the city of Bordeaux, France.
It all started with a magical encounter between a terroir and a man, the legendary Baron Philippe de Rothschild, renovator of Mouton and a pioneering figure in the world of wine. Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, who owned the property, has continued her father’s work and reaffirmed the link between Mouton and art while ensuring the continued excellence of one of the world’s greatest wines.
Mouton Rothschild is known for the unique label for each vintage. The idea for this unique label arose as early as 1924, when the artwork by poster artist Jean Carlu was printed on the label. Since then, the winery collaborates with a different artist each year. Some of the big names Mouton has worked with are Picasso, Dalí, Karel Appel and even Prince Charles Windsor, the Prince of Wales.
Mouton Rothschild is the most flamboyant style of wine of all the First Growths. With Asian spices, opulent textures, an exotic personality and the ability to age and evolve for decades. The wine offers incredible depth and concentration as well as balance, length and purity.
Chateau Mouton Rothschild is not only one of the finest Bordeaux wines, but it is also one of the world’s great wines.
