Weingut Dr. Wehrheim
Weingut Dr. Wehrheim, founded by Karl Wehrheim, has been producing high-quality, classic dry wines in the buildings of a historic Art Nouveau farm in the village of Birkweiler since 1920.
To this day, and certainly in the future, the family plays a defining role at Weingut Dr. Wehrheim. Now in the fourth generation, Karl-Heinz Wehrheim has been managing the work in the vineyard and wine cellar since 1992, and his son Franz joined the winery in 2010 while still a student of oenology. Wehrheim’s wife and three daughters are also involved.
The philosophy of Karl-Heinz Wehrheim, clearly describes how a great wine should be. He said, “Offer harmony and balance without being sweet. Embody fullness without being ‘fat’. Spicy, mineral and independent taste, without relying on a superficial fruit. Intense and multi-layered in aroma.”
Karl-Heinz Wehrheim knows about his obligation and responsibility for nature and for future generations, who should also live from viticulture. That is why they have been working farming biodynamically since 2007 and consistently pursue this type of cultivation.
